Re: Now that the statute of limitations has passed
I had 5 brothers and Indian (feather) neighbors so started hunting with a bolt action 22 at age 6. Squirrels, cotton tails, coyote, wild dogs and deer were all fair game. In those days I purchased 22 shells individually from an open box at the local gas station. Bought my first pistol at age 11, a S...

I see a couple of 480 owners on this thread. :) I was wondering if anyone had any good loads. Also wondered if anyone had any fullhouse loads chronied? Just curious as to what they case can do. I chuckle when a liberal posts online about a wild animal eating their kitty or puppy. They are horrified that such things can happen. It's interesting how they suddenly advocate killing something.

I have an original 32 Winchester single cavity mold in 160 grain. It was manufactured 1895-1900. All this talk got me excited to pull the mold and cast up a few hundred leads. Then it's time to work up a good load. My current 32 win reloads are with Speer 170gn flatnose jacketed.

Congrats Mick, the 480 Ruger is my favorite cartridge. It's like lobbing hammers down range. Ranch Dog made some awesome 480 R molds, even a six cavity one. A large flat nose, weight around 390 grain.

I've got 3 Winchester 94 in 32 Special caliber. Been hunting with them for 45+ years. Have shot both ammo you mention, had good results on white tail from both. I've always been curious about the Rossi 92 in .454 Casull, it seems hard to believe the 92 action is substantial enough for such a high pressure cartridge. When I asked my 'smith about possibly rechambering my. 45 Colt model 95 he told me definitely no. The 92 Winchester design with modern metallu...

I am doubtful of the magnetism but the r.f.I.d. tracking technology was actually used for a time. I prefer a larger bore with a heavier bullet. My 480 Ruger is great for timber. A 1894 Winchester rifle in 38/55 gets me out to 150 yards plus/minus. A Winchester model 70 claw extractor in 375 H&H covers all other large game.

I would expect a cleaning rod to leave round or circular marks. These look more like someone took a piece of 1/4" hot rolled round and snipped it with a bolt cutter. Then proceeded to pound it on the bolt causing the marks in the cold rolled bolt (softer steel than hot rolled). I doubt it would...
