Handgun? Most definitely my Ruger Super Blackhawk I converted to Bisley. Alot of trial and tribulation, however it's mine. I can hit with it from 20 to 200 yards with its' favorite load. I've put a little over 13,500 rounds through it. It's like a brother I can carry. :D http://i231.photobucket.com/...

It was a Pre 64 Winchester Model 70 Featherweight in .358 Winchester. What a Beautiful Rifle, and a rare caliber also! :D  + 1 I agree !! The 3 rifles in my family that are chambered in 358 Winchester, one my cousin has, is that very model and vintage. The other 2 are Browning BLR's. Jim s...

My light load for the 45-70 and a 405 grainer is 12gr Trail Boss, very accurate out of my Marlin and only creeps out at around 950fps, very easy on the shoulder :D I agree !! +1 :D I use 13 grains of TrailBoss under a 405 grain Lead FN. Good stuff! Have fun with that Shiloh !! Thanks, Tom

The area I bowhunt is loaded with song birds and all sorts of small mammals. The feral cats hunt there too. I 've noticed a major impact on these smaller animals/birds. I like the Federal 170's the most, with Remington 170's the next best. XS sights are rugged and fast. I prefer a Williams Foolproof (FP) and a HiViz brand, GREEN fiber optic front sight for my hunting guns.
Good luck and have fun!

Stellar idea! :D  I think Weaver still makes it's 2x Pistol scope. mine is from the 90's and really well made. It has held up to thousands 44 magnum rounds in a Ruger Redhawk I just sold. Eye relief is somewhere around 9-12", weight 7 oz. Plex reticle. You could get them (last time I l...

I've always preferred the 35's and the 358 Winchester. They seem to be VERY under-rated. I know of 3 in my family, and they almost always leave a bloodtrail a blind man could follow. Re: OT- bolt gun question
Streetstar,
You could always re-barrel it to 358 Winchester. The 200-225 grain spitzer bullets (2350-2550fps) fly pretty flat. Conversely you could use 250 grain RN bullets @ 2200 fps as woods hammers. What a sweet opportunity!!!

Re: Adjusting rear sight with lighter bullets
Foxtrapper,
I would shoot it at 25-50yards on a large target to see where you're hitting. If it's fairly close, move it back to 100yds.
As far as front sights go.....
hitting low, shorter front sight
hitting high, taller front sight
Hope this helps, Tom

Re: Adjusting rear sight with lighter bullets
Foxtrapper,
Lighter, faster bullets tend to shoot lower believe it or not. So I would say raising the rear sight would be the case.
However..................
You're gonna have to shoot it to really know.
Have fun!
