Yeah I like to carry my originals but I like that I don't have to worry about the Rossi. I like to hit the woods with a
38-40 but the 357 is just easy.

I like that too. Be a neat rig in my locale.
I have the old straight grip, 2/3 mag with a 22"RB. Its a nice balance for a 45-70.
I'm thinking the short octagon barrel would balance out about even too.

I've got one of the old '72 style, 22" straight grip 95's. It's a pretty serious rifle for the size and portability. I think it carries easier than my 71.

I had to change the trigger in mine to hit anything offhand. They just don't steady down for me like an old Winchester carbine. The better trigger did help though. Little thing don't weigh nothin'.

I think it was here I got it. I'd heard it years ago but hadn't for a long time.
I walked into my buddy's shop one day and he had a 1919A6 sitting on the floor. Ida loved to run a belt through that sucker but it belonged to someone I didn't know.

I noticed the same. Deer have to yard for the most part. The coyotes (ours are big) are able to stay on top with the crust. That's bad, bad. I called it as soon as Trump won. Told my buddies that the bottom will fall out. They will try to keep prices somewhat up through Christmas, but after the first of the year it's going to be prime buying time. The most drop will be in black guns and handguns.

Gas system choices for 300 are either carbine or pistol. Carbine is only used with 16" barrels and many are using pistol for 16" now. The biggest factor is port size. I think my 16" pistol gas uses an .086. Carbine gas with a 16" is fine if you will mostly run supers without a can.

Sounds like a nice carbine Hawkeye. I've always had an easier time finding 38's. I have twice as many as I do 44's.
The 38-55 carbine on the left in the above picture has the gumwood stocks. Between that, the bigger bore, and the half mag, it's the lightest 94 I've ever used.

My 300BO is a 16" pistol gas and I run a Colt H buffer. I've never had a failure of any kind but I've never tried that ammo. I run the factory Remington 120ot and Barnes 110gr. Tac-TX. The gas length shouldn't matter if you have the correct port size. Have you had that problem with any other am...

Hey Jack,
Guess I forgot there were so few short mag carbines. They are fairly common up here. They sold quite a few like hondo's. Most have steel buttplates with straight serrations.
I have 2 half mag src's in 38-55. Bought both of them right in my town.
