Never heard of that, but I have had older dogs get so scared by bad weather that they escape the yard and become lost. Had one missing for about 4 days before we found her wandering about a half mile from home. Seems that my dogs tended to get more afraid of thunder & lightning the older they go...

I have a Winchester single shot bolt action in 9mm rimfire that belonged to my mother-in-law. It is very small - kind of a kid's gun. I believe it was probably manufactured in the 30's. Fiocchi ammunition is still available, although pricey. It is a slight step up from 22 shot shells, but not much.

Think of it as an analog calculator. Works great ........ never needs batteries. Some of us surely remember how expensive the first electronic hand - held calculators were. Now they are throw away items. Isn't it strange how printer cartridges are so expensive by comparison?

I am on DSL & have noticed that slowness at peak useage times. Early evening hours (right after work for most people) are really slow, and things speed up again around 10:00. Where I am located, speed is definitely dependent on the service provider's system demand.

Ever notice that the packaging on some items takes a cutting torch to open, but the product itself breaks if you look at it too hard ? Packaging is over-engineered so the item will be in your hands one day longer than the warranty period before it falls to pieces.

While riding horseback, my cousin and I scared up a fox once. It ran up a sloping mesquite tree trunk, and hopped into what appeared to be a suirrel nest. We were trying to get a closer look when it bailed out for the ground & took off. The horses were not amused. :lol:

I have alays used my trusty .177 Benjamin pellet gun for this activity. Pretty challenging but very rewarding when I can connect. I have used that Benjamin for about 45 years, & it still shoots incredibly well. :D

Accuracy in mine is not good unless I use bullets around 180 grains or more. Those 158 grainers have never worked well ... but perhaps that might be peculiar to my rifle.

Our favorite is to make a small hole in the top of a pumpkin, and fill it with water. A high velocity round will produce very satisfying results....... and completely biodegradeable. All of those reactive targets seem to produce the same silly grin, don't they? Looks like you folks had a great time ...

I bought one used a few years back with a .22 barrel, and later apicked up a .357 barrel. Have used it mostly to roll soda cans from 100 yds with the .357 barrel. Great fun. No problems opening.

I have found that my 357microgroove barrel prefers heavier bullets over lighter ones. 180 grains is about the minimum it will shoot accurately with lead bullets.

I introduced a first-timer to shooting using water filled pumpkins this weekend. The results were pretty dramatic. There's nothing like reactive targets to make the first shooting experience fun. Great rifle .... great shooting. My eyes don't see well enough to shoot groups like that at a hundred yards. 50 to 75 is more realistic for hunting anyway. Thanks for the pictures.

The 180 grain shoots well out of my micro-groove marlin barrel. Both lead & jacketed bullets do well. Lighter bullets are not nearly as accurate.

Yes, there is an exotic ranch about 8 or 10 miles away, but I haven't noticed this type of deer there. Theses pictures are from close to Woodville, TX. Lots of interesting things in the woods around here.
