In research I've found another forum post says the E model never had the tang safety. Is this correct?
Does anyone know the manufacturing year range of the E model?

Re: Questions about Savage 99's?
With all the pre-million talk I was begining to think the later ones were junk. These rifles above are fine looking guns. I'd be proud of either one of them. I prefer a pistol grip because of an arthritic wrist. Also my 444 Marlin is a pistol Grip and I have been shooting that rifle for decades. It ...

Questions about Savage 99's?
I am deciding to get another lever and decided on a Savage 99. I want avoid the highly collectable and look for models that will be cheaper and common. The gun will be plinker/fun shooter for varmint bullets and lead slugs. I think I want the rotary magazine. From pictures it seems to be included in...

Re: Please educate me on tang sights?
Never saw a tang that came up behind the thumb before. That has some possibilities. I have one of the new Stevens Favorites for the kids. That might work well for the little 22. I've been doing some searching and there are many happy tang sight users but there is a theme on other forums as well rega...

Re: Please educate me on tang sights?
I am brainstorming currently how I might install a mount that would allow the use of the tang safety and rear ejection. I have this idea of a Canadian Stalking Rifle. I put my peep arm back in the Marlin's Williams sight just now. I've done some research and the aperature is within 1/2" of the ...

Wow, the 444 kicks a tad more than the fine 30WCF!

Please educate me on tang sights?
I am looking to ad a tang sight (TS) to my older 444 Marlin. It already has a receiver sight and I'm skilled in the use of peeps. I'm doing this because I've always wanted a tang just to try it and I'm planning to ad one to a Ruger No.1 that is on order, a 1A 303 British. Adding it would be a large ...

Re: What's your favorite big game capable walking gun?
Older 444 Marlin with a receiver sight. Nothing carries as nice as a balanced lever action without a scope. Second choice was a Ruger #1 375 H&H with a receiver sight, action a little too fat and a touch barrel heavy but it was a nice handling stalking rifle. I carry all day and keep my sling in...

Thanks Levergunner,
Will that sight system maintain hunting accuracy to 200 yards?

Barrel mount Aperature sights?
I have shot receiver sights all my life. I just got a rifle not drilled and tapped and was hoping to get details of the barrel mount aperatures. I searched and found a number of posts with pictures and have viewed the many sites that sell these systems. Looking for people who have used them a lot an...

Hello from Western Canada
I stumbled onto the forum while surfing lever guns. I live in Calgary and was raised in Canada's north as a kid in the 50's and 60's. Lever guns and SM Lee Enfields were the guns of choice here in those days. Still good choices today if the barrels are sound. My Moose gun is a .444 Marlin bought the...
