Yes what GunnyMack says has been my experience over 60 years of using .410s, having had .410s in every choke from cyl to ex.full I'll settle for Modified, although cartridge choice also has an effect on how well or poorly a .410 will perform.

I'm down to only one shotgun at the moment, a USSR made 16 gauge hammer gun together with a .410 adapter it covers everything I require from a shotgun, I just wish I had the same choice of ammunition as you have in the States.

Bill, I once owned a Snider converted to 12 gauge, the Jazails I handled were pretty crude and quite a few were still loaded

Westley Richards had a big antique department with most of the stock coming from India, it was a magical place to work when I was a young man.
