Hi Ben, Yep, the wolf issue here in WI is a cluster**** ! Had two wolves trot by me about 200 ft away this past regular season. Heading back up (SW of Grand View) for muzzleloader in several days. I watched about 2/3 of this yesterday and agree it's a good movie, hopefully will finish it today between loading in firewood for our "long season" here.
One can pretty much assume it was no different for the Allies across no man's land.

A few years back I wanted Mic to work on my Marlin 30-30CB, however, unfortunately he was having health issues and not taking any work.
I do have several of his books, first one is his Metallic Cartridge Reloading (very worn now).

My 45/70 Marlin shoots Rem 405 gr accurately and about equally with Rel7 or H322.

Savage 340's are decent rifles, my only experience is with a 30-30, which shot very well. The bolt action has only one locking lug, so it's not especially strong.

Small Pistol Primers

A local sporting goods has a bunch of primers all of a sudden.
A quick question ; Quality wise - is there much or any difference between CCI & Federal ? I'm just starting to load 357 and they have Federal small pistol/magnum for 74.99/1000 and CCI small pistol/ magnum for 84.99/1000.

Was sawing through a log recently and darned if I didn't hit a nail ! Darn thing must have been pounded in 40+ years ago to be that deep in the log. Didn't have to see the sparks to know what I hit, it's a one of a kind vibration.

I like the "twilight aperture" that Williams offers. I use them on both leverguns, In recent years I hunt with the aperture removed and the "slot" still acts like an aperture, it just allows more light and a larger sight picture.

Thank you. In spite of the aches, etc, at 69 it's a blessing to get vertical every day. Day trip up to and around the great North Woods. A stop in Park Falls at the St Croix Rod factory store to browse their bass rods, then over to Drummond.

The 336 has never been made in the shorter pistol calibers, but in rifle calibers such as 30-30, 35 Rem, 32 Spl, 375 Win, 38-55. Seems like I've left one or two out, but...

It sounds like Marlin will be bringing out a full line of past offerings, including the octagon barreled cowboy models.

Happened to browse the current issue of Rifle magazine, Brian Pearce authors quite an evaluation of the new Marlin/Ruger "RM" 1895 45/70. He speaks highly of the quality of Ruger's oversight on this production.

20 gauge auto : M2 , SX4

Looking at these two 20 gauge autoloaders for upland hunting (grouse, woodcock and pheasant).
The Benelli M2 is an inertia gun and the Winchester SX4 is a gas gun.
Any of you folks have experience with either or both of these shotguns ?

While not "period correct", I prefer aperture sights on my Marlins (30-30 & 45/70). Quick target acquisition and very accurate.

My Marlin 30-30 CB handles and shoots the same as your Model 64. Lovely rifles, wished I would have picked up the same configuration in 38/55 when they were still reasonably priced.
