Re: Ruger LC, 5.7x28
I wish the PC had been designed like this, with a grip mag well and a folding stock I mean. I don’t think the little 22 is for me. Neat little carbine though I keep thinking one in .45 ACP that takes 1911 magazines would be pretty slick. I know this little oddball round isn't going to be everyone's...

That excerpt from the manual literally says that the hammer must not be cocked and to lower it before the magazine can be loaded. It seems the rifle is functioning as intended by the factory although I don’t know why nor how it would be different from a Winchester/Browning. The fact that company per...

Yeah I have to disagree with Noir about the Glock being the better tool. I’d rather be holding most any hunting rifle in that situation assuming it’s in a suitable medium to big game cartridge. A shotgun with large buckshot would be even better. More capacity isn’t going to help much in a committed ...

It seems there are different experiences and opinions on using WRF in WMR chambers. Like another poster said, the reason to do so would be power and noise moderation, such as for edible small game. Certainly would not be economical unless one has a magnum but not a 22LR.

My dad had one briefly. Probably the roughest bolt action I have ever worked. He had to run the bolt back and forth with grinding compound to make it tolerable. Pull a 22 bullet from a case and push it down the bore from the muzzle. It should pick up the end of the brass case and push it right out. Small light carbine with a hard curved butt. Fairly stout loads. For perspective you are firing loads that are above 38-55 ballistics and getting into 375 Win territory in a carbine built for the likes of 44 WCF. Probably manageable for a while but over time that punch can build up. A pad will help ...

I shot a snake through the head from underneath with a Daisy 922 long ago. It was lights out. That was a 22 pellet maybe shy of 600fps. Never heard a 44 called a small caliber before. The point of the thread isn’t to use a marginal tool for a job, but recognizing that the often dismissed 44 rimfire had useful ballistics comparable or exceeding many current nonmagnum handgun rounds. Surely it is not a powerful rifle round even by sin...

Those ballistics are about what a 10mm does in a pistol and about what standard 44 sp should do in a rifle. Certainly not a high powered rifle from the 1890s til now or even a buffalo rifle of its era, but pretty good to have on the farm or horse I would think.
