HP-38/W-231 is where I'd start if I was starting over. The maximum special loads work just fine in magnum cases if you need the longer cases for proper cycling.

Since many revolver toters had had experiences with military arms and ammunition and were used to biting and pouring musket cartridges.....do you think they did this with colt's cartridges or at least somehow pricked/pierced the tails ? Just saying, if by using gov. maddox's "one drop rule" to be considered "coloured" then I'm an albino freak whose hue would serve a vampire well. Three decades of working nights and seldom seeing sunshine don't help much in the melanin density and vitamin d absorption either.

I have several n.m. and vaquero 4-5/8" and even a few shorter with shortened ejectors or no ejector at all. A pen-clipped tiny screwdriver proves useful for those but a knife blade point prying under the rim will suffice.

You should not have any trouble selling the '65 for $5 to $6 and the '66 for $4. Not near as much silver there as you would think. Double those values for an average 1964.

The shotgun primered .45 colt cases are quite fun and hit demonstrably harder than my old .38 spl. loads with canning wax wadcutters. The two smaller grand-imps prefer them to BB guns. Louder than you'd think.....
