I've never tried the the Aquila SSS I have, and they didn't cycle either my 10-22 or my Mark III. I understand that's par for the course with subsonics. So, GoatGuy, what's your secret to making them work in a semi-auto?? Don't want to steal the thread but I will add this, the CCI sub-sonic hollowp...

Great story! I'll admit to liking my 10-22 but I've never bonded with it like my Marlin 39a. In fact my 10-22 has technically been handed down to my 12 y.o. daughter so I guess I no longer own one. I try not to analyze this stuff too much and just enjoy it for entertainment, but...one thing that seems to really be getting on my nerves is how much noise movie and tv people make with guns. Re: Peep sights for Winchester 94
I already responded to your question on the Skinner sight thread, but in this case I would listen to what has been said so far. On your 94, I would definitely mount a Williams or Lyman receiver sight. I would also go one step further and remove the rear barrel sight and put in a dovetail blank and t...

ow does this sight work for you. does the eye relief pose a rpoblem it all. My only thoughts in regard to eye relief with peep sights is that they seem to work better the closer they are to your eye. You are not focusing on the rear sight at all in this case just looking through it, and you do not ...

I have the chance to look at one of these, the guy is asking $200: " .357 Single Action cowboy gun, 6" blued barrel, Hawes Firearms Co. L.A., barrel also stamped "Germany." Brass backstrap and triggerguard. Wood grips. Blueing shows wear on cylinder and holster contact points. So...

Yeah, Doc, I went and bought the 2 x AA battery version at Walmart shortly after you posted this. They had it on sale for $23. It's keeping my 870 company right now. This discussion reminds me why I need to get a Marlin Mountie and set it up just like my Marlin 1894 in 44 mag. A friend loads X-Ring rubber bullets for his 44 magnums. When powered by a large pistol primer they work well at "garage or basement" distances, but the primer hole needs to be drilled out for best results. I see they are offered in a .451-.452 diameter which may work alright in a 45-70. T...

jdad, I think you've won, that is awfully nice. I own a 39a and will never part with it before I've shuffled off this mortal coil, but I think my favorite rimfire currently made is the Browning T-Bolt. Alas I need a $600 dollar .22 like I need another hole in my already porous head.

If you absolutely have to get rid of one of them, then I agree with the above posters; keep the .357, for all the reasons mentioned. My 357 Marlin would be the last gun I'd ever get rid of.
