Rifle is a pre '64 70, using 270 failsafes. The bear took 3 hits but never took a step after the first shot. Hide squared 9'4".

Re: .45 colt +p or .45 coltheavy headstamped brass

Buffalo Bore uses cases with the headstamp HVY .45 colt. I asked him years ago if he'd sell me brass and at the time he wouldn't. Perhaps he's changed his mind. Heres a link to a pic of the headstamp:

I've also heard that moly is mildly hydroscopic and will draw moisture into your bore.

Turning the forge would have been cranking the blower. A blower is what replaced belows in supplying a coal fire with air. Alot of knife collectors coat the blades with renaissance wax and than oil it. Neat knife

I used a leupold vx-II 3-9 on mine and it worked fine. Depending on what you you are going to hunt you may want the increase in magnification. Though when I used mine in AK for brown bear (only thing I've shot with the rifle) I kept it on 3x.

The other fellow on the hunt used Woodleigh bullets in a 375 ulltramag and at those speeds It looked like they overex...
