Re: substituted dies for 50-110win

winfever, you say you use both sets of dies to reload your 50-110...Do you have to use both sets for some reason or do you mean that both sets work independently.

Have you shot any 50 alaskan cartridges in your 50-110.

bronco, thats australia.lol. fordwannabe, I would love to know what was done to the internals of your rifle. IS your rifle a browning 71? If so am wondering if you have the carrier link installed, the schematics dont show the carrier link in the browning 71 but do show it in the 86. Cant wait to hea...

Pat c. The pic of the mag tube holder, what tool did you use for that?

And, what size dovetail tool did you use, and where is a good place to get that dovetail tool.
Thanks

Hi pat c.thanks for the info and great pics, exactly what I plan to do..
I've been on green mtn site a few times and can't find any 50cal barrels with a tighter twist then 1-24.
Ill call them in the morning and see if they have any barrels with a tighter twist.

86 barrel dovetails

Anyone have any info if the dovetails on an 86 winchester big bore barrel are all machined with the same dovetail tool?
I understand the mag holder is a twist in dovetail.

Am also curious if the other three dovetails, forearm and sights are tapered dovetails or straight through even.
thanks.

i think rcbs discontinued 50-110. I am going to start making phone calls and forget about the main web sites. I do understand that there is probably other dies to use. Re: substituted dies for 50-110win

m.m.- I think the 1876 50-95 case dimensions are substantially different from the 1886 50-110. Finding the correct dies are a must before i start the project, but also so far I havnt gotten any feedback help on machining needed to accomplish this. So think its time to back off a little and wait till...

Reading that full length mag tubes in 50-100 have a way of destroying themselves due to the slide hammer effect of heavy cartridges rebounding in mag tube during firing. Anyone familiar with this? Re: hi, newbie with 50-100 ?

With the minimal schooling I have in this subject seems as though a miroku in 348 is the way to start this project due to the magazine, lifter and other parts designed for the 348 which is based on the 50 cartridge which means less interior work and the mag is already designed for 50cal. Does anyone...
