Pretty neat old post here that I have referred to quite a bit over the years.

Re: three recent hunts....with pictures of course !!
Glad you're ok. I have seen many elk hit and they will kill you. They are tiny compared to those moose. The Dodge did pretty well by you.

Re: A blind hog finds a .348
Saw specs on Buffalo Bore ammo with a 250gr bullet at 2300fps. That ought to pack a whallop. Your model 71 sure is a beauty! Nice find. I always assumed that the .348 was more powerful than the 35 Whelen but seeing this Buffalo bore load above gives me new respect for the Whelen. A standard Whelen ...

Re: Range report Ruger Super BlackHawk .454
The .45 Colt is very Special to me. I like it plenty and out of a Ruger Redhawk it might as well be a .454. I was thinking of getting one of the .454 Blackhawks but I believe I'll get a .480 Ruger instead.

Learn something new every day. I have loved the movie forever and have watched it countless times. Didn't even know it was based off of a book. Just bought the two book combo called Josie Wales on Kindle. Come to find out the author also wrote "The Education of Little Tree". This is a book...

Also I would advise buying all your parts from quality manufactureres. A bunch of bargain basement parts will make a bargain basement AR.

Re: 120 grain bullets in 30/30 and 32/20 -- Range Report
w30wcf,
My favorite light bullet .30 wcf load is the Speer plinker 100 grain over a bit of W231, I think it's six grains but I'd have to look. I believe I got this load from you here years ago. I have a couple of pounds of trail boss and will load this bullet with some of it eventually.

Good deal on a Winchester 88?
Local shop has a .308 on consignment for $545. Slightly beat up wood, an old Weaver K4 and a bright shiny bore. Trigger felt good but I don't know enough about these to know what to offer.
Any thoughts?

Re: The 338 levergun is back
I'll be buying one as soon as they are available. My dad has an old custom Contender pistol in .338-08 and I always thought a lever gun in that caliber would be sweet. When the .338 Federal came out I was really hoping that Marlin would chamber a lever in that caliber. I am still planning to buy one...

Re: OT: Buying a Motorcycle - Need Input.
I bought a Yamaha XT 225 a couple of years ago thinking it would be great to ride in the woods, it is, and that I could save some money by riding it back and forth to work. The problem was that I forgot how fun riding a bike could be and a couple of months later I ended up getting a Honda Shadow Spi...

There is a lot to be said for a single shot .357 with a pistol in the same caliber.
