Re: To build an 1873 or not...

I probably didn't explain it well. Feel the same way though. Kept staring at that barrel thinking it was for a barrel band screw but, how could it work. Too close to the edge. Seems so obvious now that you say end cap. I emailed Turnbull to see what they say. I think i'm going to go ahead and get on...

Re: Ruger .44 Flattop can shoot too.

Looks great. Still think Ruger Blackhawk is one of the best all around options for a hand gun First time I've had an issue with the trigger guard whacking my knuckle. I think I'll stick to the .44 Spl with this one. jb 8) If it is waking your knuckle you must have one of the early ones. Try changing...

Re: To build an 1873 or not...

Coyote thank you for your response and great information. Very helpful and gets me thinking. Did my best to answer your questions. Frames: - 38/44 – dark patina, no serious pitting, no step, large mag tube hole. - 38/44 – 2nd model, most of the finish gone, working on some small dent, no step, large...

Haven't heard them term "grey rats" before

Re: PAY IT FORWARD

This is a great idea. I was going to say i'd take the 30-30 brass and change it to 25/35 or 219zip to repost but, now see the old date. Bought a bag of new Win brass and the necks are dented from forming. Not the condition i'd expect from new brass. I've given up on trying to find reasonable 219 Zip...

Re: Made in the USSR.

Picked up one of those long long ago. Impulse buy (like most). It is the short barreled version and came with 45-70 tubes. Thought it was mis-labeled but no, actual full length rifle tubes. little rear sight to screw into the top between the barrels also.

Cool, fun shotgun.

To build an 1873 or not...

Hello All, Couldn't find an introduction page. 1st post. Been reading and gathering information, figured a should join and talk instead of just lurking. Wondering what your thoughts are - worth building a new rifle or not. I have a handful of old 1873 frames and parts from other projects and repairs...
