Same tales of the Cherokee, especially I think in the Smoky Mountains. Saw couple shows recently about trout fishing in those mountains, and one long time local fisher claimed to have had an encounter! But his description? IMO, just tales by a people who lived by their own gods. Not the True God!

30-30 & 30-06 shootn today, first time since December. I had 4 loads to try in my 30-06 using a Speer 165gr HC using 4064 & 4350 powder. And I had near a max load of LVR=33.6gr with the Barnes Original 190gr FN, 33.8g being the max on the Barnes chart. I shot 4 rds of these 190's only at 30y...

Thanks for the link, I haven't got that mag yet, and may not? My subscription runs out anytime, I didn't renew it. But I've come to like about anything He writes, he sure knows hunting rifles, especially pertaining to deer & elk. He often has used either a Savage 99 or Marlin levers for elk!

I still have the box of my first 30-30 ammo I bought when I got my first Marlin. Haven't dug it out, but best I remember, the box is identical to those. It was 1981 for sure tho.

I figured they were, but I don't recall ever seeing any or even mentioned, but I got my first 30-30 in 1981, and a box of Win PP's 170gr also. Still have the box and I believe 3-4 rds of the ammo.

Bill I used factory Remington CL 150gr. I was on some friends property in another state, turkey not legal with a rifle in KY.
But I agree, it's hard to beat a 30-30 for year around woods rifle! But I would like to tried a 32-20, but never had opportunity!

DD, the Finn Model 28 and 39 versions of the Mosin were well regarded. A 1943 Sako M39 I once owned was about my most accurate surplus rifle ever.
