Potassium cyanide melts at 1174 F neither Doug or Bobby reviel actually bath used. I seen Bobby checking hardness of a finished frame on an interview. So heat is involved just not typical heat.

Fire lapping is the easier way . Pouring a lead slug of the barrel is how factory laps them. You can get the fire lap kit for sale.

Ive often found even if bore was pitted if rifling was throughout it generally would spin bullet just fine. But often required several hours of cleaning, J.B. You can see the tang markings are light and still fair amount of pitting around them. I kinda feel best to leave what's left and just do a patina finish like many of the old receivers are.
And rust blue barrel mag . This would look more authentic I believe.

None of the coil springs guns are as smooth as original .
The best repro was the AMF 1892 and the Chiappa 1892 Both had original leaf spring. Much smoother.
Even with reduced spring my Rossi is much harder to cycle.

Re: Started Running A Number of Different Loads Through The Shootists Marlin
JB Bore paste is a bore polish , it has super fine abrasive.
You can clean a bore squeaky clean and run a patch 25 strokes through and patch will be black. Ultra polishes rifling .
Bench rest shooters use it all the time.
These new Marlin barrels are cold hammer forged over mandrel.
