I picked up a can of Rd Dot in Uvalde (haven’t seen any in some time).
Then I picked up six cans of Unique in Hondo. They had 28 pounds out in the barn.
That’s over 5000 rounds for the common handgun rounds that I shoot. I’m good for a long time.
Don’t disregard smaller shops in your travels.

Re: I really dislike striker-fired handguns....
The problem is not that it was a Glock or a striker fired pistol.
Sounds like somebody is trying to build a lawsuit against Glock.
I’m no Glock fanboy because I’m much more comfortable with a good Colt SAA. BUT I often carry a Glock 48 in the summer because it works for my uses.

I anticipate that we will make a lot of meat with these guns.
That’s a great load for a SAA revolver and nowhere near what that Marlin will stand. But still goes right through a tough animal.

I’m happy with the trigger and cannot imagine how it could be improved.Bullard4075 wrote: ↑Sun May 11, 2025 8:19 pm Something I've not seen discussed yet is trigger improvement. YouTube (of course) has a video of putting a small ball bearing in the trigger assembly to improve things quite a bit. I did it and I was very impressed.

The gun Ruger never made.
Here is an early (3 digit serial number) Ruger Blackhawk chambered in .44 Magnum with a 4 5/8 inch barrel.
Whoever shortened the barrel was very good. But Ruger didn’t ever ship one of these with a short barrel.

A knock on the door.
This morning I had a visit from a middle aged couple who knocked on my door. The gentleman handed me the card below and spoke to me about how God can help folks with their daily struggles. The woman stood behind him and slightly offset to my right as we talked in the doorway. Her purse was in front ...

I use 170gr Hornady Interlock across the board. I have 13 30-30s and dont want any more loads than I have to have. I used IMR3031 for decades, but switched about 10 years ago and never looked back. Ive used W748 with much better results in the 30-30. From a 20" to a 16" I only lose 100fps...

I’ve carried around the same Winchester Model 94 trapper for 40 plus years. I can’t tell any difference in recoil between factory loaded 150 and 170 grain bullets. I carry 170s in the truck because I think they work well and that’s what my sights are filed to. That’s probably not a terribly helpful ...

The Mexicans don’t have too many military victories that they can celebrate.
Let’s do our part in helping them celebrate this victory over the French. I know it’s not much, but what else do we have to do today?

I have read a few people who spent a great deal of time weighing charges, sorting brass and doing other things to try to get more consistency. It’s probably all good up to a point. I have gotten to where I rely on my Dillon for most handloads and I don’t sort brass. I’m not sure I can tell any diffe...

I find the recoil of a .44 Magnum in a light carbine to be relatively mild but I think my .30-30 is easier on the shooter.

On the wall of the old depot (now a museum) in Columbus New Mexico is a Winchester 94 in .25-35 that was allegedly carried by one of the bandits in Pancho Villa’s cross border raid.
So the cartridge was apparently widely distributed soon after its development.
