Re: 45 Colt, 135 grain bullet
I wonder if your rifling twist would be off for this light a bullet and this velocity? I’ve been thinking about twist rates lately because I’ve been working with a Q Mini Fix that has a 1/3 inch twist. It was designed to shoot 220 gr bullets more accurately but I think it’s just great for all copper...

Unique isn’t magic but at 7.5 gr in the .44 Special it seems to be remarkably consistent.
I just loaded some .432 diameter Keith bullets which should seal the chamber mouths much better.
A .430 slips right through the throats on my Ruger new model flattop.

. I trusted it a LOT more than even my Combat Commander. Our PPC qualification course yielded 300 points out of 60 shots and it shot 300s with mid-to-upper 30s in X count. We carried 158 JHPs +P ammo for duty use. It still sits in the safe with a cylinder full of those same rounds, ready and capabl...

I cleaned it last night and all fouling came out with a patch soaked with Hoppes No. 9. So the barrel is plenty slick now. Kind of making me want to go shoot my Single Six Special! I have a bunch of 250 cast bullets but no Unique. I do have Universal which is just a tad slower. Though no data for it with 250s. You can use the same data as Unique. Start with 6 gr and work up if you feel the need. You may decide to stop ...

Re: I was talking with some friends about the S&W Model 10
I think the Model 10 is the sweet spot for the .38 Special cartridge. Small enough for comfortable carry and big enough to shoot well. The triggers on the older guns are particularly easy to work with.

That's a beaut! What exactly is the experiment here ? The gun did not shoot well from the factory. It seems to be mechanically correct, but it did not shoot well. I lapped the barrel to slick it up and re-cut the forcing cone. Opened up and made the chamber mouths uniform. I had Bobby Tyler put a F...

Re: I was talking with some friends about the S&W Model 10
I like the 4 inch heavy barrel Model 10s and 13s.
But I shoot better with a little heavier gun. SAPD marked 681.
A fixed sight service revolver is still the top of the heap as far as I am concerned. I guarantee that the flier in this group is not the gun but my fault.

I've got the same one, closest thing to a factory version of Keith's No.5 that's ever come along. I occasionally buy a box or two because this is a predictable load that shoots very well in my Marlin carbine (which doesn’t shoot cast bullets that well).
