Figuring the area of the projectile, a 9mm (.355" diameter) has a total area of 0.412825 square inches A 12 ga. projectile (.720" diameter) has a total area of 0.09898 square inches ... almost 5 times larger than the 9mm. Size does matter. :) Hey buddy I don’t think your math works. .4128...

I hesitated to open this thread because I know the pain associated with losing a dog.
But I’m also convinced that a dog makes me a better person because He reminds me through the dog that it really is not about me and I have responsibilities outside myself.
God bless.

Nothing fancy but a good Charter Arms Bulldog is a fight stopper.
I loaded a hundred or so .44 cases tonight with a .431 diameter RNFP 240 gr machine cast bullet over 6 grains of Unique.
It doesn’t go very fast but it will poke holes right through most things.
Shoots fine in my Model 69

I’ve always shot lots of .38 ammo and relatively little .357 Magnum through my revolvers.
I still think that’s a pretty good idea.

I do love the big Smith revolvers.
I have a brand new Smith & Wesson 520 which I think should have been the ideal duty gun. N frame with fixed sights in .357.

I wonder if your rifling twist would be off for this light a bullet and this velocity? It was designed to shoot 220 gr bullets more accurately but I think it’s just great for all copper...

Unique isn’t magic but at 7.5 gr in the .44 Special it seems to be remarkably consistent.
I just loaded some .432 diameter Keith bullets which should seal the chamber mouths much better.
A .430 slips right through the throats on my Ruger new model flattop.

. I trusted it a LOT more than even my Combat Commander. Our PPC qualification course yielded 300 points out of 60 shots and it shot 300s with mid-to-upper 30s in X count. We carried 158 JHPs +P ammo for duty use. It still sits in the safe with a cylinder full of those same rounds, ready and capabl...

I think the Model 10 is the sweet spot for the .38 Special cartridge. Small enough for comfortable carry and big enough to shoot well. The triggers on the older guns are particularly easy to work with.

That's a beaut! What exactly is the experiment here ? The gun did not shoot well from the factory. It seems to be mechanically correct, but it did not shoot well. I like the 4 inch heavy barrel Model 10s and 13s.
But I shoot better with a little heavier gun. SAPD marked 681.
A fixed sight service revolver is still the top of the heap as far as I am concerned. I guarantee that the flier in this group is not the gun but my fault.
