I’ve been shooting a Ruger SBH Bisley chambered in .454 quite a bit lately and the smaller chambers are certainly easier on my brass. Just a consistent observation.

Yesterday it was plentiful. I’m not exactly sure why I care as I don’t own a .22 Hornet, but I notice these things.
.480 Ruger ammo is plentiful as well.
But prices do not seem to be going anywhere.

My dad’s old Chevy Apache (I think a 1960 model) with three on the tree was what I learned to drive with.
I actually like the modern features……until they don’t work.
I want a foreign market Toyota Hi-Lux small diesel. But I apparently can’t have one.

I changed my own oil, my own transmission fluid, transfer case fluid and differential fluid in my Jeep. There’s not even a drain plug on the differentials in this truck. Everything is electronic. Including a system that shuts the engine off when you are at a stop light. When it works, it works fine....

Probably best to abandon this project. Use the Henry for .327.

I’m not concerned in the least about this gun or shooting the hottest .327 ammo in it.
I’ve seen how this action takes smoking hot .357 and .44 Magnum without any difficulty and the.327 has a smaller head than those catridges.

The .44 Henry Flat was a general purpose cartridge for a lot of folks as it was what was available prior to 1873. It lasted for quite a while as some folks (probably most) simply didn’t have a lot of money.

I’m always on the lookout for the older Rossi rifles that had the huge saddle ring and no bolt mounted safety.
But in answer to your original question, shoot the heck out of it and sit and work the action during a good western like Winchester 73 or The Searchers.

I watched Vera Cruz the other night and that 92 Winchester that Burt Lancaster brought to Mexico had an enormous magazine capacity for a 20 inch carbine.
Later his Single Acton Arme shot 8 times without reloading!

Tombstone had a good scene where they were cleaning their guns AFTER the fight in the river. That makes sense to me as in that era they would have been using black powder.
But what I see in movies of a more contemporary style is a different kind of thing.
