Re: Hmmm... SHould you carry a gun in your own home...???

I got a couple that carry easy when I just have my bath robe on with no pants . Actually have one in the shower in a plastic bag incase someone comes in while I'm getting clean . Fits perfectly in a soap dish and will be enough to get me to a real gun if anything more is needed. I don’t do this. An...

I do 100 % of the time . I'm out in the sticks surrounded by mostly trailer trash so you never know who might knock on your door . Re: your best 45 colt loads

Resurrecting a thread from 2012 but it is a very interesting discussion about the use of 18-18.5 gr of 2400 in the .45 Colt. A bit contentious at times but it was an interesting read. I could see that being a thing in a Ruger but it does not sound like anything I will be feeding my Colts or Italian...

Anyway, I've been told that this vintage of Winchesters used metal that may not be weldable, truth or myth? I think some of the receivers of this era were sintered and then iron plated to take the finish. Maybe that's what you're referring to. I might be wrong. There are plenty of 1894 people here ...

Hi Eddie, The 86 breechbolt has the cutout for a cartridge guide spur on the right side (that semi-circular one). The Model 71 cartridge guide lacks the top spur so no cutout was needed. I've got both and other than that cutout they appear to be the same. Mr. Pickle's The Models of 1886 and 1892 on...

Looks like a m71 bolt . They quit making the '86 in 1935 and didn't make the bolt peep until 1936 . How is the sight marked ? The locking lugs on the m71 were tapered , the lugs on the '86 were not.
