Had this same issue with a 338 AI Lapua. We drilled out the kinetic bullet puller-----just used a 9/16th bit I believe. There was still enough plastic that it didn't break when we whacked it. Worked fine.

Manykids, there is a good article by Paco on this site titled "The 45 Colt in Leverguns". It discusses action strength, has some heavy loads for various 45 Colt leverguns and also talks a bit about the 454 in the Rossi. It is worth a read for sure.

I use older Bushnell's on my springer air guns if I can find them. I like a scope that will focus to 10 yards or less for an air gun. Thanks for the replies folks. Scott, it does look like the ejector may be hanging it up a bit---but I'm not sure that clipping a coil on the spring or reducing the length of the plunger is a good idea unless I buy it. Todd, when I was young, about fifty years ago, I used to make paper weights in molds with various things imbedded. The epoxy was made with this purpose in mind, to stay clear. I don't remember the brand, but you can get it at hobby stores.

Three of my best friends in the last three years. One died having pups, so that is a bit different, but the other two were long time friends. Very tough, I get a chill, lump in my throat and a tear every time I look at the tree they are buried under.

Yes, case in point to what Steve said----I had a fairly expensive Weatherby with a very crooked chamber and shot wild---Weatherby would not stand behind it. I have a fairly inexpensive Rossi that has nice fit and finish, great trigger, has been shot a ton, with plenty of heavy loads and shoots well....

I have a couple and have had others. Used to have the standard version, now only have the Ackley version. One is on a Remington 700 action and has a 1 in 10 twist, the other is on a Savage action and has a 1 in 8 twist. I prefer the 1 in 8 twist. I don't know much about the variations on the chamber...

Great picture. I really like the breeching on his saddle. I wonder if the bottom part is rawhide or some woven fiber. The braided part may be horse hair---or maybe human hair. He looks well fed, rugged and ready for war for sure. The only rifle to pack on a horse is a levergun......it's just fitting.

Yes, we called them "gitter guns". They mounted on a stake that could be pounded in the ground or strapped to a post, some were brass, some were steel. They had a trip wire for bait and fired a 12 gauge. Very wicked for sure. They would disintegrate a mouse.

The one I have has a piece of spring steel on the rings that snaps it in place when the scope is in use. Does yours have that piece of spring steel?
