Re: Long Range Shooting with a .357 Lever Gun?

Last weekend I was shooting my 20 inch 44 mag out to 250 yards and we were having a ball. Some were shooting AR's and doing all right. My brother and I grabbed our levers, (both 44 cal) and started knocking things over and then all of a sudden the other boys were putting down their AR's and wanting ...

I peiced together an AR last fall. I just got around to shootin it last weekend. I really did not want to like it. I guess I do. Of course my 18 year old son loves it. I suppose I will keep it, but they don't have charm of a lever.

I have an original Henry Golden Boy that I cleaned while watching Walker Texas Ranger on the TV last night. I may have a real collector item here. I'll be waiting for offers.

That is one cool Henry and I'd guess it will bring a bit more than my Golden Boy.

I sure like those 44's. I have a 3 inch Gary Reeder Redhawk and man that is sweet. I usually shoot 200 gr LRN at about 1200 FPS. That ain't too bad but you don't want to shoot it all day. If I was in a "war zone" I suppose I would have to agree with the USOA military and go AR style. But for my own use, or even the socalled bad times deal I don't believe I'd be hurt'n too bad with a 30-30. Since I don't own a 30-30 I suppose I'll stick with my trusty 357 lever and revolver.

I use an old military gas mask bag. It slings over my shoulder and I shortened the strap a bit so it don't swing around too much. It is lined to be water proof and the opening rolls to shut. Pretty good set up. It holds enough for a hiking type bag but not for an over night deal.
