Re: S&W 1854 Lever Action ** YT Video Added

I like the video a LOT. I like the gun a lot too. I prefer stainless, and I appreciate the receiver sight. My thought is that the gun would be more useful in 444 given the frame size. OTOH, I doubt there is a 44 mag load that could stretch that frame... still don't know the twist rate of the smith,...

Re: S&W 1854 Lever Action ** YT Video Added

Thanks for the info guys. I assumed that the S&W 1854 could handle the Ruger Only Loads. I have been shooting them in it for a couple weeks now and have not seen any problems. When it comes to the traditional lever guns, that is what I love most. For some reason this one just spoke to me when I ...

Re: S&W 1854 Lever Action ** YT Video Added

So, in the manual it says that 45 +P ammo is not recommended.

Is this just something they put in there to cover their butts?

In my Ruger Blackhawk I shoot a 300g XTP bullet with 23g of H110.

I would think that the 336/clone could handle that but definitely dont want this S&W to come apart.

Went on a hunt with my two sons this week and yesterday my 11 year old dropped the hammer on a nice 8 point buck. Reloading has always been an expensive initial investment. Once you get the main stuff thought it becomes much cheaper. I shoot a ton of 45 Colt and at 50.00/box or more in stores and me making it for about 9 bucks a box....I can shoot as much as I like.
