Re: Savage '99 "leverscout"
10 year update :-) OK, so my licence for the Savage 99 was going to expire* and in the mean time I had acquired another 99 in 22HP (and in the mean time I have become a licenced dealer, so I can now actually evaluate guns before applying for a licence) so I sold the 300 Savage 99 (still in pristine,...

We're a metric country and the only place I've ever seen an M7 bolt is on the inlet manifold of the 1220 cc four cylinder air-cooled boxer engine from a Citroen Cub. Also 4. Bullet too heavy.
But this is hardly likely in this specific instance.
My 357 Rossi doesn't like 190 grainers, they're going sideways at 25 yards.
But the Marlin is made to stabilise 150 and 170 grainers so... that's not the issue.

Re: Can you hit anything with your Mare's Leg?
Well, there are two issues. 1. A short barrel is more accurate than a long barrel. Long barrels whip more. But of course long barrels give higher velocity and in turn flatter trajectories. 2. A long barrel gives a longer sight radius, which is why it's easier to aim a rifle than a handgun with open ...

I have some brass here where the guy did exactly that.
Yes, the bullet rattles down the bore and falls on the ground at about 30 feet.
The brass is fireformed to 308 dimensions, and one might even be able to size it back. Or just load it as 308.
I wouldn't want to go the other way though.
