I'm with Rimfire on this one . I beleive the conversation on this before was that it is some type of epoxy and that Brownells sell the correct stripper for it. This is the lead I was looking for. This is what Brownells is selling at about $30 per quart. Certistrip Heavy Duty - So Tough It Even Stri...

Has anyone here successfully removed the finish from a browning rifle? I'm not sure if a conventional stripper would work on that plastic looking finish. Any experiences to share?

I will be handloading for this so I can afford to shoot it enough to become proficient with it. This is my first big bore pistol, so I have a lot to learn. I did shoot it a few times though and was hitting a 3.5" group at 40 yards. I thought that was ok for me, a newbie at shooting pistols.

I followed the advice I received from some of you on this forum and I bought this gun. Knowing that most of us love to fondle guns, and when that isn't possible, we like to look at them, I have posted some pics of the 44 mag that I just bought. Last October I took my 1886 out for a stroll through the woods in Western Washington. It was the first time that gun was carried for the purpose it was designed for since 1929 when my dad bought the gun for $1.50. It was a beater when he bought it, as evidenced by the auctioneer's comment,"here...

I have a line on a Super Blackhawk in 44 mag, 1976 vintage, in the box. Bore is mirror, and the only signs of wear is on the cylinder, where there is a line in the bluing from the rotation in the frame. All this plus a box of 50 Magtech 240 grain bullets for $300. For years, I used a fanny pack that was made out of an old denim pant leg. It had a couple of loops sewn into it to put on the belt. It measured about 10-12" wide and 8-10" deep. It held everything I needed for a day in the remote area I was hunting in. We hunted out of a base camp and car...

Why not leave the round barrel as is and put the 20" octogon on the frame and shoot the heck out of it? That way in 5 years, you can reinstall the round barrel without losing any value, if you decide to sell it.
