Re: Field Sidearm - 6" Ruger GP100, 6" S&W 686, or my G20L
For a long time I've read that a service grade revolver is generally more accurate than a service grade auto. Do you find the Glock to be accurate enough for your needs? The last time I was hunting/camping I carried a 5" 1911 as it was, from what I owned at the time, the best combo of portabili...

Maybe the Charles Bronson western with the samurai was based on a true story?? I think it was called "Red Sun" or something like that.

Finn Aagard had a piece in Rifle years ago about some oddes & ends. One of them was to use something like ShoeGoo to make some "dots" on the inside surface of the sling for better traction.

I used to hear that Ohio was a leading state for sightings. There's a little feed store in SW Ohio that sells (or at least advertises!) "Bigfoot tracking supplies".

Re: What varmint scope do you recommend?
I've used a 6.5x20 Simmons 44 Mag on a Ruger 223 varmint rifle a lot. It was a surprising good scope for the money. I also have a 4-12 Burris compact that was on a Sako 221 Fireball that was good, but I don't think Burris makes that one anymore. A rifle builder in my area used to summer out west and...

I'm kind of glad we don't have snakes like that around here. We just had a revolver just like that, a 36-1, minus the grip adapter, turned in this week by the family of an elderly man with Alzheimers. I tried to explain to them what it was worth but apparently the rest of his family were seroiusly a...

I'm an armorer for a PD that fields around a dozen ARs, a mix of Colt, S&W, and Bushmaster. They get used hard without much cleaning during the week or so that we spend qualifying and they keep running. Granted, the environment we're in in no way compares to a jungle but they get pretty dirty. R...

Actually, I've had a few. Some with Rem/UMC 9mm ammo and some with .223 loads I primed w/Rem 7 1/2s.Modoc ED wrote:And you are saying????Rimfire McNutjob wrote:Probably loaded with Remington primers.
I've never had one "failure to fire" issue with a Remington primer.

The Xperts shot accurately in one of my 10/22s but they were very dirty. They also shoot to point of aim, and fairly accurately, out of my Bearcat.

There is, or used to be, an outfit called PWL; I think it was Price Western leather, that made such a thing. I don't know if they still exist and I'm kind of vague on the exact name.

I've used a bit of Winchester Super X HP and the 34 grain Winchester Supreme on prairie dogs with my 9422M; those two loads are the most accurate out of it. Both are pretty effective on praire dogs. I've used some CCI loads but not as much as the Winchesters.

I'd go with the M&P in 45 given the choices. I've been issued an M&P40 for 2 1/2 years now; I bought the compact 40 last year to use for back-up. I recently picked up an M&P9mm for my daughter and I'll probably get another for myself eventually. (Just not a big fan of the 40 cartridge)

A friend was given one once, along with a Match Target Woodsman, a Browning 20 ga semi-auto, and a 1911 Winchester shotgun, after helping his fiance's grandparents move.
We shot the .22s quite a bit, the 63 is a good handling rifle.

Re: WARNING ABOUT BLUE DOT POWDER AND 357 AND 41 MAG
I used to use it for 125s in the 357 and never had any trouble. I loaded about 1 grain under the max load (from Sierra or Lyman-it's been awhile). I've gotten away from it as I'm moving toward using only Unique and 2400 for my handgun loading anyway.

Buck Knives
I sent a Buck back to the factory that I had got new back in the mid 90s. A couple of years ago I let someone use it and it was damaged (doing something it wasn't designed for). I found it again this winter and sent it back in January. Yesterday a new knife showed up as the old one wasn't repairable...

Several years ago in SWAT magazine there was an article about Tacoma's selection process. You might be able to obtain it from them. Personally, I'd like to be able to carry the pistol of my choice, and I'd choose a 1911 if allowed. However, I think ScottT makes a very good point. I'm an instructor o...
