Thanks for the report. I have been thinking seriously about one when I heard of the ammo from Remington also. I have not seen one of the rifles yet, but I really want to now that Ben said it balances nice. May have to make my rounds this weekend.

Yes , just around the corner now. Going to the cabin next weekend to get the range all set up. March, and early April are the Months for me to do most of my shooting. I must admit I am ready for it to hit! Low to mid 40's here also, but still quite a bit of snow.

I was finally able to determine the years of production on my 94's (1941,1951,1972,1984) but now I am trying to find out the year of my Model 64 Carbine. Same serial numbers as the 94's? I use that bullet in my rifles. They work perfectly at 30-30 speeds with good expansion. The Deer do not seem to like them very much though!

Without seeing them, I too would opt for the 32 special, just because I am partial to them, and it also is the oldest. I have a good friend that has a stainless 308 take down. Shoots just like my standard 308. Those BLR's just keep on hitting Bulls eyes no matter the caliber, or configuration.

When working up a load always start at the low end, but never lower than the lowest listed in your manual due to the possibility of a hang fire. I had to think about this one, and the #1 issue for me is being able to carry a bunch of ammo. A rim fire is out if I had to defend myself. It would work, but I just want a bit more power. I think a pistol caliber like the .357 would be about perfect. I do not own one, but have thought long and hard...

Biggest rifle I ever shot was a Remington 700 Classic in 8mm Remington Magnum. It wasn't bad at all. Far worse were 3" 12 Gauge slugs. If I am ever forced to use a shotgun again it will be 2 3/4 inchers.
