I'll tell you what, I got two worn out S&Ws that would not be worn out had they been Rugers. They are as far beyond the S&Ws in durability as you can get. ...but I been there and done that when it comes to Smiths. You have made a very powerful, very damning statement about Smith and Wesson ...

I'd suggest a Ruger GP100. They come in Blued or Stainless 4" or 6" barrels.
They are as far beyond the S&Ws in durability as you can get. Modern in design and execution.

Those of you who have Walmarts that sell reloading supplies should consider yourselves lucky. I am not aware of any Walmarts selling reloading supplies in the Houston area. I am curious as to what the prices are. I was shocked to see the locally-owned store selling primers for $30/1,000. I did stop ...

Speaking of ultimate strength, does anyone know the difference in tensile strength between the injection molded metal used in the Rossis vs. the forged steel used in the Marlins?

Gunnie 12, Stop by a well-stocked gun shop and try them both on for size if possible. I suspect you won't find them nearly as different as others do, but you will probably have a preference. Warranty service should be a consideration, and I can say Marlin is pretty good in that department. Maybe som...

I didn't have to think about what I was going to do. I'd already decided years earlier when I had heard a dog chasing a deer in the bottom-land along the Willamette River near Corvallis that if I were to witness such a chase, I'd do my best to end it. Wow. I am not sure how to say this without it s...

The tube should fit straight from front to rear. Thats why the bottom of the barrel is relieved. Your new one is the same. It shouldn't need to bend to lay up against the bottom of the barrel but the bands are usually snug. OK, that tells me that the problem is with the band. Without the band, the ...

Help with 336 magazine/barrel interference

I could use a little help with a pre-safety Marlin 336 in 30-30 that I picked up a while ago. I got it used, in pretty good condition, with only minor rust spots on the metal here and there and a few honest scratches in what is otherwise some nice, well-fitted wood. I took it to the range and found ...

+1 on the A3 or flat-top upper receiver. As stated above, you have the option of using the handle or something else like a scope. Floating around out there somewhere is "the dreaded chart" that was put together to show the differences in construction between the various manufacturers. Appa...
