Re: Value of Marlin 336....
Problem is how does someone truely tell if a gun has been unfired since it probably was at the factory thus I would think making it almost impossible to really tell???? Maybe someone on here knows how?[/quote] That is the problem and worse than that, I haven't seen the rifle for myself. He's an olde...

Re: Value of Marlin 336....
Thanks for the estimates, but I already told my friend the original estimate of $750 - $1000.
I better go and catch him and tell him the bad news.

Re: Marlin 35 Remington Question
My 336 likes my cast bullets better than jacketed. My load for my gun only! rcbs 35-200-fn gas checked acww sized 359 with blue lube 36.0 gr of 3031 in R-P cases cci lr primers Tom That's unusual.... Cast doesn't usually go well out of micro-groove. Maybe it's the gas check. You know something...I'...

Re: '92 Disassembly - ? for Nate....
Hi Steve.... In your reply above you said you use a "Spray Lube" for the action.
What brand do you use? I'm having a hard time choosing one.

Any recommendations on a particular brand of lube?Griff wrote:Use a "dry" graphite spray lube, the carrier evaporates but leaves a lube film on the inside of the tube... use it on the spring and follower also.

Re: Leverguns Spring Alligator and Hog Hunt Day One
- it is interesting that Florida feels compelled to put that in the regulations guide. Yeah...you're right. That is interesting. I just went back and read it again and it starts right off with "Many wild hogs in FL carry swine...." Many ?? I guess they're just covering their butts. Take c...

Bo-Whoop is more famous and has a more interesting story. ~ If Buckingham valued his gun so much why did he leave it on the fender of the car and drive off? :| He didn't....the warden did. The warden carelessly left it on the fender and then, with all the distractions, Nash wound up driving ...

Re: Leverguns Spring Alligator and Hog Hunt Day One
Just a little heads-up for those not aware: "Many wild hogs in FL carry swine brucellosis - a bacterial disease that also is infectious to people. People handling wild hog carcasses or raw hog meat should avoid eating, drinking or using tobacco when field-dressing or handling carcasses; use rub...

Re: '92 Disassembly
Hi Steve.... One more thing.... I was planning on using M-Pro 7 Gun Oil LPX, which comes in a dropper bottle. Should I pour it into a spray bottle, or do you recommend a different lube? What I do is besides the action I clean the bore and the mag tube all at the same time so yes flush and oil the m...

Re: New 39As
They just don't make 'em like they used to..... Other than my 2000 mfd. mod. 1897 Cowboy, all my Marlins were made before 1980. I have a 1957 vintage 39-A Mountie that has had countless rnds. thru it and it is the slickest action you've ever felt on any gun, period. In all these years it has never f...

....to degrease with some Quick-scrub III ...maybe I only need to remove the butt stock to let the Quick-scrub run out the back of the action as I spray it while holding the muzzle pointing up. You will also want to remove the magazine plug, the mag spring and follower. I use Auto-Zone Brake parts ...

Re: '92 Disassembly
Hey thanks, Joe! I figured that's all it would take.... The exploded view in the "manual" is poor, to say the least. Qiuck-scrub is made by Shooter's Choice. It's one of the fastest evaporating de-greasers out there. I've been using it for over 15 years. It's good stuff...you just don't wa...

There can be no question that the Roosevelt-Fox Shotgun is the most historic gun in annals of American Shotgun history as well as one of the worlds most historic Shotguns. '92 Disassembly
Hi.... this is my first post here. I've got a new Italian made Chiappa 1892 that is dripping with lube/protectant from the factory (it's a nasty reddish-brown looking stuff.) I wanted to disassemble to degrease with some Quick-scrub III so I could re-lube it properly and have a fresh start. But now ...
