Nothing wrong with that one. I have one that I have had 35 years, never a problem with it. It's downed deer, bear, elk and moose. I like the 250 grain bullets in it.

I sold a Japcester 1895 SRC in 30-40 a couple months ago on gunbroker. It was unfired in the box with all documents. It sold for $1600.00.
I also sold an 1886 deluxe takedown in 45-70, again unfired in the box with all documents. That one sold for $2250.00.

I have a Marlin 1 in 38 Microgroove, manufactured 1984. Shoots 300 grain XTP's just fine. I have not shot anything heavier. If I need more than 300 grains.... that's what a 45/70 is for!

How far are you going to be shooting? A 45/70 becomes a challenge for holdover for me at anything past 200 yards. The .348 I could shoot 250 or maybe even 300 yards. If its for inside 150 yards, flip a coin. A really nice problem to have!

Perhaps mechanically, they are finally making a few non-lemonington's. For me, the pictured gun is laminate not walnut..... not to my liking and the dimensions of the stock resemble a fence post. Too bulky!
