Question about the PM function

I needed to send a PM tonight. I wrote it and hit "submit", but it has been sitting there in my "Outbox" for quite awhile. I have nothing in my "Sent" box. Is there something special I need to do to get it sent?

A lot of postmen will leave a package on a porch or somewhere else outside & scan it in as delivered. The way to be sure is to pay for "signature confirmation" instead of the much cheaper "delivery confirmation" when you send an insured parcel.

As 1886 mentioned, the Lee Factory Crimp die is a must. Less than $9 at Midway, and makes bullet crimping a cinch. The roll-crimper on the bullet seating die is a real pain. Uneven crimps (crimp is based on case length, so if the cases differ slightly in length, you get different degrees of crimp) a...

The Hornady manual has always listed the .348. I don't have the current edition, but it figures that they would still list it, given that they offer the .348 bullet.

I think Chestnut Ridge Supply still has brass. It's about $31 per 50, $4.50 shipping no matter how much you buy. I'd grab some before it gets real tough to find again. www.chestnutridge.com I like the Hornady bullet and IMR-4064. I've had pressure signs with roughly comparable loads of RL-19 and IMR...

Hey, an even easier way to tell without a measurement would be to look for the little inlet cut at the top of the buttstock for the small projection from the top of the M71 buttplate. It goes into the buttstock just about 1/4". Seems to me they'd have to cut that much off the stock before mount...

There doesn't seem to be a good place at the front of the wood to measure from. But, from the front face of the trigger the measurement looks like just about exactly 13 inches. That's from the deepest point in the trigger curve, about halfway up the trigger.

If you need a measurement, let us know, I'll be happy to measure it for you. Long tang or short tang? No doubt the same for both, but we might as well measure the same type you're looking at.

You mention the "flat mainspring in the originals". The original Winchester M71 had the coil mainspring, it was seen as one of the significant improvements from the M86 design with its leaf mainspring.

Nope - that ain't gun show success. The selling at better-than-expected prices was a good start. But the real success is going home with pockets empty & some new stuff you don't really need, but just couldn't pass up. The true success is when you buy something that was marked $200 & you hagg...

Anybody got any extra empty RCBS die boxes?

I need a batch of empty RCBS die boxes. The new-style larger box, not the older smaller box with the little plastic latch. My current dies are in mixed boxes, and I'd like to get them all matching (anal retentive). Green boxes preferred, but gray acceptable. If you've got any you'd like to sell, pos...

The only gun that really caught my eye was an 1886 .45-70 takedown carbine, it was marked $13,500 so out of my league by about a factor of ten. The dealer who had the .348 brass I bought two bags from at the last Concord show, they were marked $22 and they took $20 each at the time. There was a guy ...

Concord NH Gun Show today

A very busy show today, I got there about 8:40 for the 9:00 opening & was about 150 people back in the line. By 9:00, it was four times as long. Pretty good show, a lot of decent vintage .348 ammo for a change. I picked up a minty Remington "dogbone" Kleanbore box of 200 grain (marked ...
