Re: Marlin 990
That's a very nice looking riffel, looks a lot like the model 60- yes they are great 22s. When I lived out in Colorado I kept my 22s sighted in for 100, 6000 ft elevation (sure helps rimfires ) and would use it out to 200 with about a prarie dog of hold over while shooting up the dog towns.

I was confused as to what he was using the Caldwell bags for. Clearly not their intended purpose. At 2600fps, that 300 grain bullet is still in the 4500 ft-lb area. But 350 grains at 2800? That's 6000. I'm not sure I want to see that at the end of a curved butt plate. I got the impression he was ki...

Back when I was in gummsmiff skool I found a Remington 600 Mohawk action , I put an air gauged Douglas on it , chambered it for 22-250. Timney trigger that is set at ounces, blasted a bunch of p-dogs with it. Sadly no place to shoot ground hogs here anymore.

3/16 is nothing more than a 10-32 screw. Just buy a 10-32 nut ant put it in your pocket for the gun shows. No need to make a gauge.
Normally the 3/16 designation for screws is a 10-24.

410's are great! As you say they certainly do have more to offer than most people think. A bit of load development and nothing is safe. I have shot skeet, doves, pheasants & chukar and even a few ducks ( before non toxic laws). Slugs were a favorite for feral cats too!

I noticed the my trap gun barrels shooting factory ammo (B& P) got warmer than with my 700X reloads. I sent B& P an email asking about the powder- seems they are using a high nitro content powder- low volume/ bulk. The extra nitro produces the heat? But it's very clean! I'm onboard with the ...

When I got my Henry 41 mag I worked up a few different powders as usual. CFEPISTOL was very lackluster, the LilGun was pushing 210s right at 1800fps and was nicely accurate. Then I thought about the velocity range the XTPs were designed for. A call to Hornady and they told me I was pushing them too ...
