Re: Taylor Throating: for an old 58 Rem. replica

Let me begin by saying I am not a gunsmith nor have I played one on TV. I use my tools on personal guns that I personally own. The forcing cone is the taper, cut at the rearmost part of the barrel by the factory. It is usually five to eight degrees depending on the revolver. I re-cut mine to eleven ...

Re: Taylor Throating: for an old 58 Rem. replica

This discussion was going good until Hawkeye 2 posted his definitive statement that Taylor throating was a forcing cone. It was said in such a matter-of-fact way it sounded like he knew exactly what he was talking about. I cut forcing cones and I have a Taylor throating reamer. I also remember when ...

Re: What happens if 2 of 3 Presidential Candidates are out?

Being from Texas, one of my Senators is Ted Cruz. A lot of mud is being slung at him, but he seems to be someone who will fight for the issues most people want addressed. No candidate is perfect. We are all human beings. I have written him for his support on some bills and against others over a wide...

Bloomburg would buy into the race if he hasn't already by then. If you have been watching the news you know he is in the wings still making up his mind.

Re: Firearms as a business expense?

See an accountant but I believe they will say you could write off the depreciation for X number of years (5-10) After which you could buy new ones and start depreciating them. Like a shop owner does with a fleet of vehicles. If you have an entity set up to do it, you buy them for the entity and the ...

Re: Meat Elk the easy way and the hard way + deer the old wa

I am sure glad to see Elk there. That ranch is just north of me a few miles. Maybe some day we will see some Elk running through my neck of the woods. It is not too far fetched. It has happened with "exotics" and they aren't even native to the U.S. Nice going on taking your Cow. That will ...

Re: One got inside the wire today...

We had one get into the attic and would run across the ceiling. Drove my wife into a frenzy. I used a have-a-heart trap. I knew he could pack all the food he needed for a long stay, but not water. Water is the key. I wired the door open and put a bowel of fresh water in there daily. After three days...

Re: "Only accurate rifles are interesting"

I do not see how there is a difference between the two. You say it isn't the twist rate, it is the rpm. In a short pistol cartridge rifle like the 1894 Marlin 44 magnum, If we want rpm we have to get the fps high enough to produce the rpm in a 1/38 barrel. That takes plenty of space in the cartridge...

Re: ACU'RZR PRICES PACO

I set up my bench rest arbor press for the tool and it turns out a box of modified ammo in short order with no "BANGING". I use a Wilson base made for depriming center fire cases. These can be adjusted to just the right handle throw to get consistant pressure on noses for diameter and shap...
