I like my 30 year old #3 Shiloh chambered in .50-2 1/2". When I first got it I shot grease groove bullets but now only use paper patched. If you intend on selling it then the previously mentioned advice about .45-70 probably applies. Good luck.

It started here around midnight last nite. No rain or sleet, just snow. Looks like about 10" or 12" its hard to tell with the 30 mph wind! Took off work today but should be able to make it in tomorrow ok with the chains. Hwy 99 is usually the last one to get a plow on it.

I think sweet tea is a southern invention (correct me if I am wrong). When I was a kid, 50 or so years ago, we never had sweet tea. If you wanted your tea to be sweet you put some suger in it. I prefer it straight, no sugar, no lemon.

Mmmm, something that shoots between a quarter and a third of a mile. What's been said before is good advice. Go with a bolt and a big scope. Although I too like the idea of a .45 Sharps. What ever you choose I hope you are good at reading the wind at that distance.

I remember the magazine article about the ZZZ a while back. Austin was at Pawnee once and I met him. I think my favorite big engine is the 36 Rumely at Rollag, MN. My friend Lawrence Swanz worked on the 40 Gaar-Scott at Forrest City, IA. They had it running last July. I hope to go to see it run.

I've got one of these but in an officers model. Ditto on what has been said, do not try to hot rod this action. There are a lot of great trapdoor loadings in most manuals. With the facory tang sight on mine I am able to keep 405g cast bullets in groups of 2" or so at 100 yards. Good luck.
