Re: Think might have found a hunting load for my .44 mag
After a little experimentation, I now only use magnum primers with H110. My results with non-magnum primers were the same as yours. Vita Vuori N110 is a good powder for several loads in my experience. Accuracy has been good for all loads I have tried it with. I like stick powder for moderate loads ...

It does seem to work well in the "magnum pistol" rounds and I hear our Canadian friends like it for being temperature insensitive as apparently it gets cold in parts up there

Re: Think might have found a hunting load for my .44 mag
I have used N110 with satisfactory results. Being a stick powder, it has different properties from H110. It works pretty good in moderate level loads, whereas I get best results with H110 only in the upper end of the power level. Must admit I am far more used to stick powders than ball. I struggled...

Thanks very much. I think Lil' gun isn't so far from N110 in terms of burn rate. One is certainly aware the rifle has gone off with this load but should work well.

I have been using Unqiue in 44 magnum and have struggled to get a conistent volume throw.
I hear Universal is much more consistent so tempted to give it a try.

I have a 92 japchester in 44 mag. I've used Hornady 240 xtp bullets on deer. My loads were mid level loads and it dropped a deer in its tracks at seventy yards. Viht powders are quality stuff when you can find it. Who cloned your '92? See no reason why a 240 grain shouldn't work in about anything in 44 mag. Its the staple bullet weight for that cartridge. if it's like the white box 240Gr commercial load, it shoots well out of the Marlin 44 Mag carbine. In my son's edition, it is the heaviest load that is reliably accurate out of the slow twist barrel. Have used VVN110 in .44 Mag a couple of times. Accuracy is good in a long barrelled Super Blackhawk. It does good out of a semi-auto .44 Mag carbine. Nosler JSP 240gr in 44 mag
Hi folks,
I was thinking of loading some 240 gr Nosler JSP over Viht N110 for a hunting load out of a 44 mag 1892 clone.
Does anyone have any experience of this combo in a lever action?
Thanks in advance,
Scrummy

Re: Drilling advice
So, I used to live in Switzerland and shot a few drillings. My very limited advice would be: 1) 12g x 12g tends to be rather heavy and unwieldy 2) 16g x 16g is quite useful and not too difficult to feed 3) Get a rimmed rifle cartridge 7x57r, 7x65r, 8x57r are all good options. Again the 9.3s tend to ...
