Lets just admit it, A5's have an "enhanced recoil" due to the action. I also have a Remington Sportsman 48 in 20 ga., a simplified version of the A5 and compared to my two brother's Browning gas operated 20's it's ridiculous. But it fits me and I hit with it so.... And I enjoy my 16 ga A5 ...

I had my Single Six re-barreled by Ruger. It was dirt cheap, $31.00 as I recall. Plus they sent my old barrel back. Admittedly that was 25 years ago, but I'll bet they are still very reasonable.

You must live in the CoMo area. I know Midway discourages walk-in business, have never tried to stop in, but buy online quite a bit from them. I'm in St Peters, have friends near Harrisburg I shoot with once in a while.

They sell sabot supplies but also full bore projectiles and I think some molds. I'm sure they also have a very useful loading manual for slugs, and they sell the sort of old fashion wads you need for non-sabot loads.

I have and regularly shoot a Nylon 76.

Elegant it is not, shoot it does.

And you can carry it for a week without putting it down since it weighs about the same as a Daisy Red Ryder.

As originally conceived the .41 Mag was supposed to be a better law enforcement cartridge for the folks that thought the .357 was not ideal. The 742 is a reliable gun, but not durable. Bro and I both had .308's that we shot. A lot. Gunsmith that repaired them told us if we wanted to shoot that much we needed to spend the money for a BAR, M1A, or Garand. I think he was right.

Mine is a 10" bought originally for IHMSA Production class. Mine apparently hasn't read Mike Bellm"s treatise on how crappy the factory chamber is because like North Country Gal's mine is plenty accurate.

It does everything, but stick to Max brass.
