You might check out some of the various 1911a1s in 9mmP. They tend to have fairly light recoil springs due to the weight of the slide and are normally very easy to operate.

congratulations! Looks like a great old gun.

I have had excellent luck using Kroil / AeroKroil oil along with an old copper penny and nylon brush to remove rust freckles without hurting the bluing.

That is a very nice old rig! I am a long time HiPower fan also. I lucked out and picked up a Brill holster for a 5" N-frame at a pawn shop a couple years back. http://www.fototime.com/36CB51BF80A5994/xlarge.jpg Not to fond of 9mm, but I do like the hi power. I have a tricked out FEG clone. Some...

Good score! I would likely hang on to that one myself. I have been looking for a .35 Rem locally but the few I have found have been way too high (mid $500s and up for a worn rifle with no scope). I have one straight stock 336 that I ended up putting a set of XS sights on (ghost ring rear and big whi...

Thanks for the info! I was going to ask that myself because I will be over in Dallas early next year. I have been to Ray's several times and always find something there. I am still kicking myself for passing up an old Remington 11 with a 26" barrel and a chopped down youth length stock that the...

Re: What's your .22LR trail gun?

I picked up a very clean 6" High Standard Sentinel last year with an old Ace trigger shoe on it and have packed it a bit around the woods since. It likes Remington Subsonics and makes for a fairly quiet combo. Not as much thump as I would like sometimes though, so I am starting to play around a...

5 shot .38. Pick the flavor of your choice, be it blued steel, stainless steel or one of the lightweight materials. Either a bobbed or "hamerless" design works best for pocket carry. Make sure you get a good pocket holster. They keep your revolver gunk free and in the proper position to d...

Re: OT: Full-Boat .357 Trashing S&W J-Frames - Fact or Fiction??

My 640-1 has had to be rebuilt twice so far. I bought the first one that I laid my hands on and shot it exclusively with magnum ammo for years. The first rebuild was at around 2500 rounds. The timing was going out and the cylinder stop cuts on the cylinder where getting all beaten out of shape. I se...

I have been pondering them myself again recently due to the ammo prices. Back in the early '90s I had a WWII vintage Soviet Tokarev and foolishly sold it off. In generally that are nice and flat, tough and dependable, if sometimes rather unrefined (depending on manufacture).

I have not used any of them, but I know three people that shot the Leverevolution .45-70 out of NEF Handirifles this past year for our revised primitive season. They were very pleased with the performance compared to the 'traditional' factory SP ammo that they had been shooting.
