Re: What are your working guns?

I almost always have my derringer on me.
I shoot all my center fire rifles equally.
Other than the derringer, I shoot my S&W 686 357 mag more than my other pistols.

Re: Springfield Peep Group - Pictures

May I ask, ( you've probably said, but I missed it ) what brand and model that rear sight is? Also do you know of a gunsmith that can put those type sights on a bolt gun? They are Lyman sights. They were installed on the rifle at the factory. I really don't know any gunsmiths, I usually just fix my...

Re: OT-I HATE autoloaders updated with another one

A gun is always loaded until YOU verify it isn't. Yesterday my brother was telling me about our neighbors derringer and how hard the trigger was to pull. I was curious to know if his trigger pull was harder than mine. So I unloaded the derringer and gave it to him to try. His first action was to ope...

Re: ? About The Derringer In Lady Joyce's Photos.

I have a Davis D-22 derringer, (22 lr,) and it hits about 6" high at 30 yards. At least when I shoot at my 8x12" target at 30 yards I aim at the bottom of it. Wow! 30 yards with a little derringer. Man you are into shooting long range. If I have 30 or more yrds. between ...

Re: My first reloading equipment! Yippeeeee!

Bogie, if I may offer one word of advice: reloading without a chronograph is work; reloading with one so you can "see" the results of what you do is fun! It rewards you for all your hard work. :D So, your next purchase has to be a chronograph. Fear not, a measly $100 plus change can get y...

Re: Springfield Peep Group - Pictures

Folks that have little or no experience with receiver sights tend to disbelieve what they are capable of. Since I grew up with a peep sighted rifle that was known for accuracy and punched a LOT of paper, I have no doubts. I've shot groups that made scope only shooters eyes bug out. Good shootin'! 2...

When I was working up a load for my fathers Springfield I never thought I would get groups like this... Especially with a peep sight! Rifleman, Just looking at the first few seconds of video, it seems your barrel is a little long or your magazine is a bit short! What kind of modifications have you done to your rifle?? Other than the scope and a shim I made to elevate the back-end of the scope a bit, it is the same as when I bough...

I haven't shot it yet, probably never will. Need to cut down some 38 special cases or just find 38 cases; and get the barrel crowned, (it's a little bent.)

It is a cool little gun though, very strange.

Re: 550 Yard 30-30 Winchester Video

How much drop at 550 yards? It came to a 21.5moa adjustment from my 100 yard setting. My scope seems to not adjust as it should but that comes to about 10 feet. When I used the Hornady site ballistic calculator, it told me that I would get that amount of drop at 500 yards, so my scopes adjustments ...

Re: Free floating a levergun carbine?

I get better consistency by letting the barrel cool between shots. Keep the action open until you are ready to shoot again. Or run a wet patch down the barrel followed by a dry one. I probably shoot a lot differently than most people here, I rarely shoot more than one shot a day and when I do I am e...

Nice shooting. We have a 400 target at the local range. There used to be a lady that came every Sunday with a scoped Winchester Model 70 308. She would hit a target just a bit larger than the milk jug until you were tired of watching her off the bench. Harder of course with open sights. I have shot...
