Re: My 99

Well heavy is relative. Not as heavy as any 24" barreled bolt guns I have. They carry, balance and swing on target well.

Re: interesting little portable house kits

My dad once told me... "We spend the first half of our lives collecting (stuff) and the second half getting rid of it."

Re: My 99

I've already researched it. The checkering is not factory. Neither is the drill & tap for scope mounts or the rubber buttpad not shown in the picture, so it's not a "collector". The blueing on the receiver is about gone. The barrel blueing (except around the muzzle) and the color case ...

My 99

Just browsed some of the 99 threads here. Mine isn't as pretty or rare as most posted here but it's honest and goes in the deer woods every year. It's an EG from 1935 in 300 Savage. I still have a few 200gr loads that are fine for deer but anymore I just use one load with either 225gr Sierra or the ...

Re: Hunting accuracy

"An 18" .30-06 digests a 180gr Core-lokt bullet at about 1860fps, strikes at 210 yds at around 1500 fps with about 900 ftlbs of energy, which puts it at the low end for taking LARGE game."

You need to get your 30-06 fixed... :P

Re: Russian "Baikal" shotguns... any one have one? Opinions?

Have a SxS "coach gun". Heavy, rough triggers but can be cleaned up pretty easy. Action was stiff and wouldn't "hang" all the way open, but this is easily fixed also. Finish is thin (spray on I believe). Had mine out and got caught in the rain and the grain lifted quickly. Refini...
