Re: OT-What turns you off the quickest in Westerns?
I get tired of impossible shots made with rifles, handguns, and shotguns. Guys knocking someone off a roof at 75 yards with a handgun while shooting from the hip quick draw. Rifles making shots offhanded at distances the same rifles couldn't touch off a sandbagged rest. Shotguns blowing huge holes t...

I sometimes watch the show as well, but I'll admit it's a little on the stupid side. They'll probably test the Thompso...

Buy the one you like the best. Are you going to keep the 9410 unfired? You seem to be interested in value appreciation. The value will take a good dip if you shoot it. I'm guess for $899 you're talking about the "special grade" (edited to correct my "collector" typo) guns as CMP ...

I ordered several of the mummy wrapped No4 Mk II's back when you could get them for way less than $200.00. I wish I'd have kept at least one, but I sold off all my post war center fire Enfields. I only kept WWII and earlier guns other than the NO 2 22LR trainers. For those I made an exception.

It depends if you're hunting, plinking, or serious target shooting at those distances. The 30-40 Krag wouldn't be my pick for anything other than fun at that distance. For serious target work I'd look at a 308 Winchester. For hunting the 308, 30-06 or one of the 30 caliber magnums would all work.

Do you know who manufactured the No 4 Mark 2? There's a lot of variables to the value. Matching parts, rearsonaled, etc. For a safe bet I'd say a nice common one should be in the $200.00 to $300 range.

You can get the plastic plugs (bullseye) from Marlin. They require fitting and can be a pain to deal with, at least for me. If you're not comfortable installing the swivel, have a local gun shop do it for you, but don't put it where the bullseye is.

I'm not any sort of gunsmith, much less a great one, but you can smooth up the trigger and sear areas fairly easy. That won't make a huge reduction in pull, but it can smooth things out a great deal. Be careful not to change angles or remove too much metal. You just want to polish parts, not remove ...
