He has other 44-40's for shooting. He just wanted this one for his collection. He ended up getting it today for $600.00 out the door. It's new in the box and unfired and will stay that way!

My dad has the chance to pick up a new in the box 1894 44-40. I've scanned the auction sites for him, but can't find any recent sales on these. Any ideas what these are currently bringing?

I own a few Lugers, but can't see any reason why anyone would even consider them for concealed carry. The safety is slow to use, they aren't the most reliable choice by any means, and any collectors value at all could be destroyed by one small part breaking or just wear and tear to the finish.

I never thought I'd have much use for the Big Boy, too heavy and shiny for my tastes. But then I borrowed my dad's 44 mag. Big Boy and was very impressed. It's of the most accurate 44 lever guns I've ever shot and very smooth.

GB isn't going to do anything. If the guy has any sales history at all, he's generating revenue for them. I know a big shill bidding problem a local seller got into there. After repeated complaints, they did finally give him a "shame on you", but he's still an active seller.

I believe some parts will interchange, just not all of them. If the Browning part won't work (and can't be picked up cheap), I'd pass on the rifle. They were neat rifles when you could still buy them new for $99.00, but the cheap wood they use is prone to breaking.

Ron Paul would be fine with me, but a write-in doesn't stand a chance in the primary. It's really just helping the Obama & Clinton side. McCain isn't my first choice, but he's the lesser of the evils as far as I'm concerned. He's not pro gun, but he's not a huge anti like Osama and Billery either.

I enjoy playing with my 44 mag. Henry. I actually prefer the tube load to the the loading gate. It's probably more accurate than my Marlin or Winchester 44's, but it is heavy. It wouldn't be my choice for hunting, but it's a blast at the range.

I had a Chapman set, but they were too brittle. I kept breaking tips. I've had good luck with the Brownells bits, although I still snap a few of the very smallest ones. I recently found a set of hollow ground tips at Sears on sell for arond $9.99. So far I haven't broken or bent any of them.

You should be able to find that price at a number of distributors. I know JSC currently has them listed for that so you better get your money ready.
