Great link AJ, in my favorites now. I am facing the same issue. I need a peep but will be putting it on a Miroku 92. A side mount reciever sight is out due to looks. It will probably be a tang. I suggest you drop your need to kill Elk and Moose. I've hunted both and you really limit your daily use choices. Buy a 444 for the big stuff. Anything capable of this task to long range does not belong in farming country. If I were to drop the need for the big stuff a 25-35 in a 94 or a 250 Savage ...

I load for 2 centerfires, 32-20 and 444 both in strong modern levers. I reloaded years ago and enjoyed the load tinkering and experimentation. Canuck Bob, I feel the same way but it has more to do with the several add-on liability parts. I do think the Miroku made 92's from Browning were the very best of the old and new technology. One of the attractions for me is the case design for both the 30-30 and 32 Special are excellent for cast bullets. I think this would be a cast shooter so bullet isn't an issue. Sadly 1 in 16" would stink with a heavier slow bullet. One motivation in the back of my mind is a rebarrel to 25-35 o...

I have a gorgeous Browning Model 65 in .218 Bee. A wonderful rifle. Mine happens to be a high grade but it would seem to me you could find a standard grade at a reasonable price if a .218 is acceptable. The 65 is the bottom of these three.
