Another good book to read is Hornady's reloading manual. They do a good job explaining internal, external, and terminal ballistics. I think a lot of that can be found on Hornady's website now. I know I am probably a committee of one, but I have no use for a safety period. I have never in my life carried a rifle with a round in the chamber and have no idea why anyone would want to do such a thing. Safeties are mechanical devices which can and do fail.
