Re: The Quigley shot

Back while in pharmacy school in mid 90’s I would go to different bow rendezvous and throw for Stacy Groscup. He would shoot aspirins out of the air with his recurve bow. He passed the day after my son was born Sept 19, 2005.

He taught Frank Addington to shoot and he is still shooting.

AJMD429---- The 357/44 B&D was what started the levergun sickness. It was a gunbroker sell that I stumbled upon years back. Neat little carbine. If you are inerested, shoot me a PM. Yes, factory lettered brass grip frame 41 mag. http://i755.photobucket.com/albums/xx197/onegoodshot2009/brassframe...

The buckeyes didnt use moon clips. The 10mm and 32 H&R used the case mouth. The 40 would not work in the buckeye.

Never use boolits, but I'm guilty of using "pills" all the time. Pharmacist, so I give the deer "lead poisoning" and any problem is a "fly in the ointment". My fav part of this site is the old cowboy pics. I'd love to compile all those and put in an album. Wouldnt you l...

Re: OT-Herters .401 Powermag?

Stamp on the barrel puts it at 1966. I have a new set of wood grips that really help the looks of the gun. Those plastic grips are UGLY. I use 10mm dies to make the ammo. I've used some 41 mag brass that has been turned down in a lathe as well. Lee Martin on Singleactions.com actually reforms 41 mag...

Re: My New Black Widow PMAIII

My father started me out with a Darton compound when I was 12 and I took my first doe. When I was 16 he got me a black widow mb and I hunted with it for many years. When I was in college, I was fortunate to travel around some with Stacy Groscup and throw (aspirins) for him in his expos. What...

Re: Missed a too good to be true deal on a 41

I know what i'd say about a fellow who agreed to a price and then made a drastic increase in the price when I arrived to take possession.

In THIS particular case, the man was educated a little more as to what he had and I would have just bit my tongue and forked over the extra cash with a big smile.

Re: Missed a too good to be true deal on a 41

What I found even more admirable was that he was committed to giving the other first refusal even though they hadn't given him a firm "I'll take it". IF the buyer knew the true value of the gun, then that other hand is another story. Why try to make a fantastic deal even better by trying t...

Re: marlin 44

I sneaked out of the pharmacy a little while ago. Looked at the gun and it is a 94. Wood was in good shape, but closer exam of the blueing revealed some scratches and blueing wear on the end of the barrel. Still an 85% gun though. Everything was tight and it seemed to have a decent trigger. I offere...

marlin 44

Looking at the bores of the lever guns in a local shop yesterday and saw a large hole so I picked it up and it was a blue Marlin 44mag round barrel (sling studs and NO safety) in very good shape (90% ish). Nice wood and appeared stock except for a hammer extension. What is a good price for such a gu...

Re: 357/44 Bain & Davis Rossi Puma

I first started thinking about a levergun a few years ago when Marlin had that 41Mag Stainless Guide gun. Never have found one that I could afford.
