Re: Black powder ammo accuracy questions
I've tried my lube in smokeless 44 special loads and they worked fine, I plan to test it further in 9mm and .45ACP and whatever else I got. My hope I can use my BP lube for my smokeless lube too, then I can process all my bullets (I cast too) on my star. Edit: This was my original recipe: -500g hard...

Re: Black powder ammo accuracy questions
Can't speak for .45 Colt but I shoot BP .38spl out of my '73 uberti and it's very accurate. I use a lube called Emmerts Lube with added lanolin and carnauba. A big lube groove (or multiple ones) is nice for BP. I just load up so that the BP is somewhere above where the bullet will be seated, resulti...

Re: Heavy bullets in 38/357 or other 35 caliber loads ...
Maybe I could ask here, I'm wondering if there are any good 38cal molds that drop bullets in the 160-170gr range that would be usable in a .357mag '73 lever? I wouldn't mind a slightly longer bullet to reach 357 OAL with a 38spl case. I've seen only SWC designs in that weight range so far and those ...

Re: Uberti 1873
Here's a youtube video with the .44mag carbine: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oBTgNxOj9Eg The toggle-link system is apparently stronger than most people give it credit for, and the 44mag models have been differently heat treated and that's why they're all blued, they can't be case colored. I read something that the Lyman #2 is only screw adjustable, but it had some kind of index or scale on it? Re: New Winchester (Miroku) 1873
Oly, One really good reason not to shoot black powder out a 44 Mag case is blow back. The 44-40 is a tapered semi bottle necked case that seals the chambers very well with black powder. Straight walled cases such as the 44 Mag and 45 Colt ( I have lots of black powder experience with that one) ofte...

I found the post that made me wonder about this and it was on a swedish forum and it's hard to translate but essentially it talked about the edges where the two receiver halves met could get bent and make the two halves fit together sloppily. I read online recently that you should not take apart your 9422 rifle more than is neccessary, because it's somehow not good for it? Re: Considering threading & suppressing my Rossi 92
That pin keeps the mag tube from moving out of the receiver. Not the cap. If the mag tube moves forward just enough to catch a cartridge head between the tube and receiver and you force the lever you can bend the carrier. The pin indent in the barrel can be oval or oversize a bit, just don't let th...

Re: Considering threading & suppressing my Rossi 92
Fun! That pin on the mag tube cap is to keep the mag tube from slipping out of the receiver. If you shorten it like that you should make sure you have some sort of mag tube retainer. What caliber is it? From how I understand the design it should still be retained, the screw attaches to the cap thro...

EDIT: Tried loading to 1.65 with another type of bullet and it feeds that, I guess 1.68 was just really a tiny tiny bit over its limits then.

This gun has hardly been shot, last time I tried it was going high with factory ammo.
It's spent most of it's time disassembled, I've done the NKJ treatment on it and now it's waiting for some proper wood, thinking about making my own stock because most factory options are too short.
