To filll or not to fill, that is the question
I picked up a old SMLE #1 303 and would like to make up some medium velocity 170gr cast bullet loads for it somewhere in the 1600 fps. range. Going online to do some research I've run into people saying you should use fillers in the case, some say never some say to tip the barrel up before you shoot...

Love the flinter looks fun. I was just reading 3leggedturtles quote about the 30-30 and it's so powerful in a handgun and danged near worthless in a rifle. I've heard that for years and the same with the 44mag, some people are just dense huh.

Well I think someone did it again. I went into the safe to try to pick out a sixgun for rabbit hunting and wouldn't you know it, Somebody or something broke in and stole all the rear sights of my shooters. I don't know but I can't see them anywhere.

I have an old #1 A-B in 30-06 I've taken between 50-75 deer with and consider it to be about the perfect deer rifle between 5 abd 300yds. Some say they have accuracy issues but none I have seen.

If I remember right, which is not very often, sash's should be long enough to wrap around twice and tie in the back. So depending on the person 6- 25 feet should about do it.http://www.levergunscommunity.com/posti ... =1&t=36515#

I don't hate cats, but I can't stand cats roaming around where they don't belong. We had a problem with them for awhile, between people dumping them and some neighbors letting them breed like crazy and roam free. Dad and I started a clean-up program using the favorite shooter of the day or whatever ...

try to not irritate thy neighbor's I don't do much shooting before 9am and not usually after 10pm unless there's skunks or dogs or other varmits around. I believe we owe it to any possible new neighbors to shoot alot so they know what there getting into. Kind pf like peaple who move next to the race...

My little carbine feeds everthing but those snap caps so don't put to much faith in them. I have a feeling you'll love that little gun. Unless you can really see something that looks wrong I would skip the trip to the gunsmith.

Thanks guy's, next trip to town I'll grab some gauge material and check it out. I have plenty of other rifles to hunt with but this was grandads and I still like packin it around. My 16 year old daughter thinks it's the coolest cartridge rifle in the safe.
