Re: 45 Colt Blackhawk Max PSI Question
Well there are guys shooting 45 Super in S&W N frames chambered in 45 ACP. These loads are running about 28k psi. The Blackhawk is a lot stronger than any N frame Smith. I would think 30k is plenty safe.

I remember reading that it is very challenging to get the uniform powder charges that this little case requires. Read that in the Hornaday manual I believe. Maybe it was Speer. The United States is not a signatory to The Hague conventions or any other rules prohibiting expanding bullets. Not sure why most all military combat ammo is fully jacketed. Maybe for reliability? I just read that the military will go to hollow point pistol ammo. Plus they want 9mm compatibility. Of course with the Sig, they can switch frames, slides and magazines to have multiple calibers too. In light of this, I'm thinking they will mostly issue 9×19 with some outfits having 45 on the same ...

I'm betting 40. Very few 45s few have the combination of capacity and ergonomics they would want (although I never considered the Beretta ergonomic either). Anything you mentioned will work fine. But I would say with one rifle, go with a common chambering. I wouldn't destroy any salvageable firearm. Those actions are strong and useful even if the barrels are toast. I suggested reboring, but that might not be cost effective.

Pete is right. Eighties vintage would be push feed. It's easy to tell. CRF will have a big Mauser type claw extractor attached to the right side of the bolt.
