Grandmother's farm in the Oklahoma Panhandle when I was a teenager was sort of that way. No other houses for ten miles to the North and the East. All I had at the time was a Ruger semiauto .22 lr, but I shot at some old stuff at around 200 yards as often as possible. Had a lot of fun.

Puppies are a great way to find out if a human is worth knowing. Depending on how a human treats the puppies, you can find out a lot. Puppies are mischevious and full of life.

Luck seems to favor those who practice and prepare. I am reasonably certain that he had practiced shooting at a distance. Buffalo tend tò move away from humans shooting them, and some shots were probably at a longer distance than would be ideal.

500 yards with a handgun is impressive. 500 yards with a rifle is tougher than most people can truly accomplish, and a handgun has a much shorter sight radius. That handgun must be well made to be capable of such accuracy.

As far as prices, the 28 gauge us more available everywhere I shop, and is cheaper, too. Not sure why. It was about 10 years ago that I saw 28 gauge in the stores for the first time in my life. Used to see 410 all over for about $10 to $15 per box, but now it is $25 or more IF you can even find it.

Teething is sure to see a lot of damage to everything. I had to unplug every electric cord and put them up. An Irish terrier chewed through a 4 gauge set of jumper cables, all the way through, and left them in about 6 pieces. She loves wires.

The old Ruger Standard Model and Mark II were amazingly accurate. If you could see it, they could put a bullet in it. My best target off-hand (no rest) with a Mark II was 10 rounds at 25 yards that I could cover with a .38 Special case I picked up at the range.

Never needed to give CPR. I have had a defibrillator used on me. It didn't work. Time of death was called. An hour or 2 later, the nurse had cleaned me up, bagged my stuff, and was waiting for the morgue to come get me when I started breathing again. I was told she screamed and ran out of the room. ...
