Re: Questions on the 35Rem in a Marlin 336 for TERRY MURBACH
I have found 31.0 gr. Rx7 with a Rem. 200 gr RN. Velocity should be around 2050-2100 fps. I use this in my Model 8 Rem. and a Model 141 Rem. I also use 33.0 gr. Rx7 with a 158 gr. SP. (pistol bullet), velocity, I think, should be around 2300 fps.

A good rifle and a good woman, now those are riches. It doesn't make any difference which has appreciated the most; both only get better with age. There is a true-ism that I say; if you want something that you can depend on, its old women, old guns, and old cars. My wife hates that saying.

Last Saturday, me and a few shooting buddies did a little shooting. Since my rotator cuff surgery last week, obviously, I had to shoot all weak handed. We do a drill which consists of the 3 5 shot strings with 8 " bullseye. At 12 yards, 5 rds weak hand, at 15 yards 5 shots strong hand, and 25 y...

why are marlin lever actions so accurate
I was initially surprised at the accuracry of a 336 marlin in 30/30 in 1970. Groups of 1 1/4" at 100 yds. with a 4X scope. I did not think that lever guns could be that accurate back then. Since then, I have never known a marlin not to be surprisingly accurate. So, the question is why. Is it th...

Tomorrow I will have rotator cuff surgery to repair a torn tendon. Hopefully, this will give some relief to this 66 year old man. Your bullet diameter certainly seems to be the culprit. Loads that I have used over the years are: 6.7 gr. Unique w/ 200 gr. WC., and my old standby is 5.4 gr. Bullseye with either 200 gr. WC or the 230 gr. RN. They shoot very well. A light load of Bullsye, 3.5 - 3.7gr. w/ 200 gr. WC is what I used ...

Where will you keep the gun? Will the shorter trapper bbl be an advantage? If so, you may have your answer. Both calibers are certainly adequate; one has a little more testosterone than the other. Iron sights is a good idea.

7.62 is right about the foot pounds of energy(FPE) thing. FPE has nothing to do with stopping power, killing power, or penetration. One great rifle! I had one about 30 years ago. You can disemble the weapon in 10 seconds, run over magazines with a vehicle and they still work flawlessly. They were clear so you could see how rounds you had in a mag at a glance. They would function ammo that an AR would choke on, well balanced, and...

I, like 7.62, did not intend nor did I mean to say one should take shots at 500 yds.
